MicroLaser Peel Treatment
What is the MicroLaserPeel™?
It is an intra-epidermal laser peel that precisely ablates the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected. Skin conditions including: wrinkles, scars, keratoses, acne scars or pigmentation problems have been successfully treated with a MicroLaserPeel.
Who should consider a MicroLaserPeel™?
Anyone who is interested in achieving better results than what a microdermabrasion or a light chemical peels can offer, yet, still has little time for the healing process.
How is the MicroLaserPeel™ different from Microdermabrasion?
Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the stratum corneum (10 microns) of the skin. Patients and clients may become dissatisfied when the perceived results of a microdermabrasion do not equal the expense and the number of treatments required.
The MicroLaserPeel™ is a partial to full epidermal peel (20-50 microns). Because this procedure ablates deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and full skin resurfacing.
How often does a MicroLaserPeel™ need to be done?
Typically, the procedure is repeated 2-4 times, spaced 6-8 weeks apart. One procedure can be sufficient for at least 6 to12 months, but additional procedures may be performed, if required to achieve the desired results. A package of 3-4 procedures may be best for you. Your physician will determine what is necessary.
What type of results can be expected?
You will experience smoother, healthier more vibrant skin. You will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture and tightness.
What type of anesthetic is used?
A topical anesthetic is applied 30-45 minutes before the procedure.
Is a dressing or bandage worn after the procedure?
No. Your physician will prescribe an ointment such as Aquaphor or Vaseline. This is used as a barrier to keep the air away from your skin while you grow new epithelium. You will probably use it for the first one to two days after the procedure. After that, a moisturizer can be used.
How long is the healing process?
The healing process varies from patient to patient but will generally take three to four days. The procedure can be performed on a Thursday or Friday, and you can return to work the following Monday. Immediately following the procedure, you will feel as if you have a bad sunburn. You will have minor sloughing the following day. By day three of the healing process, redness will begin to fade and by day four any redness can be easily covered with makeup.
