What happens during a laser vein therapy procedure?
The CoolGlide system delivers pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be.

What types of veins can be treated?
The CoolGlide system can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body on all skin tones, and even tanned skin can experience outstanding results without bruising or blistering. Small facial veins (telangiectasia) can be treated quickly without bruising or complications. Spider veins and large blue veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates. A careful evaluation with your physician or technician will help determine which vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment.

What happens after the procedure?
Following the procedure, some redness or bruising may occur. When larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks or months following the procedure. People who have this procedure performed may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time following the procedure.

Are there restrictions on activities after the procedure?
You should follow your home care instruction carefully. People generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after the procedure. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated area exposed to sun, but it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure as much as possible.
